Brian Scott, MD-Neonatologist

Brian Scott, MD, is a dedicated board-certified neonatologist with a passion for providing specialized care to critically ill newborns. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Texas State University before earning his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. Dr. Scott pursued his pediatric residency at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, gaining extensive experience in treating children with a wide range of medical needs. His commitment to neonatal care deepened during his fellowship in neonatology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he mastered the complexities of directing care for high-acuity and premature newborns. For Dr. Scott, the most rewarding aspect of his work is supporting families during their NICU journey. Witnessing the joy and relief on parents’ faces as they take their healthy baby home after a challenging start is a deeply fulfilling experience that continues to drive his commitment to neonatal care.

Chantel Ewald, RNC-OB

At only 18 years of age, Chantel joined the GRMC’s Birthing Center’s team as a CNA and has never looked back. In her current role as the Clinical Coordinator/Educator, her main focus is to educate our staff and assist in the implementation process of new guidelines and protocols that increase the best possible outcomes in GRMC’s Birthing Center patients. She also looks forward to visiting with patients to discuss their birthing experience and enjoys being an advocate for her patients and their families.

Analia Cano, IBCLC

Analia joined GRMC’s Birthing Center in 2022 and is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. Her passion comes from her personal life, having her own children, experiencing motherhood, and seeing the importance in proper breastfeeding education. Her joy each day is witnessing the bond and connection between mom and baby when there has been a successful latch or complete feeding for baby.

Christy Oliver, LVN

Christy is a very experienced nurse, having cared for patients in many different clinical settings, but when she landed in GRMC’s Birthing Center as the Maternal-Fetal-Medicine (MFM) Coordinator, she knew this was her calling. She loves seeing the joy new parents feel at one of the most important times in their lives, and also being able to use her MFM experience and knowledge to coordinate patient care between MFM and GRMC’s Birthing Center.

Tom Jones, Director of Pastoral Care

Tom Jones offers spiritual and emotional support to parents during labor and childbirth, recognizing the importance of individualized care. For families facing unexpected outcomes such as stillbirth or critical newborn conditions, he employs a unique blend of pastoral experience and counseling techniques to navigate grief, emphasizing the need for end-of-life rituals, even for those who lived only in the womb. Tom provides support that respects diverse faith backgrounds, offering guidance and rituals tailored to each family’s beliefs. He is also dedicated to honoring the memory of infants lost, having established the Bartoskewitz Endowment in 2024, which ensures that mothers experiencing loss receive a Memory Box filled with meaningful items.
