Maternal-Fetal-Medicine (MFM)

High-Risk Pregnancies.

A Perinatologist, or maternal-fetal medicine specialist, can help guide high-risk obstetrical patients through a high-risk pregnancy.

In an effort to ensure GRMC offers the most advanced and sophisticated diagnostic capabilities for high-risk pregnancy patients, we have partnered with University Health System in San Antonio to allow our moms and babies access to Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists—at GRMC. Our MFM specialists are highly skilled in caring for mothers and their developing babies throughout a high-risk pregnancy and provide advanced care for pregnancies with an array of medical, surgical or fetal needs.

Advanced prenatal diagnostic services are also available including:
  • Genetic counseling
  • Ultrasound screening to take a close look at your baby
  • First and second trimester aneuploidy screening
  • Cell-free fetal DNA testing
  • Evaluation of abnormal aneuploidy screening tests
  • Amniocentesis (genetic testing)
  • Management of medical complications in pregnancy
